We will be discussing and answering questions about the new drug handling, storage and record keeping procedures. The information was sent to Oregon licensees by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board (OVMEB) the week of June 8th.

The Oregon Legislature has enacted law that requires regulation and inspection of all Drug Practitioner Dispensing Outlets (DPDOs) in the state.  Veterinary facilities are included in the definition of DPDOs and are therefore subject to the new law.  The Board (OVMEB) has been working with the Oregon Board of Pharmacy (OBP) for some time to determine which agency would be performing veterinary pharmacy inspections. At this point the OVMEB will be conducting inspections, thus eliminating the requirement for veterinary facilities to register with, pay a fee to, and be subject to additional inspections by the Pharmacy Board . The record keeping requirements and drug storage rule changes necessarily mirror the OBP rules.

**The OVMEB encourages licensees to feel comfortable to ask any and all questions, they only want to help everyone with these new requirements. The webinar format will however, allow participants to pose questions anonymously.**
