This 2-day lecture and lab for technicians develops knowledge and skills in dental anatomy, nomenclature, and charting so that common oral and dental pathology is recognized. Periodontal disease, the periodontal cleaning/prophylaxis, and dental home care will be presented. Intraoral radiographic positioning to obtain diagnostic images will be taught. Regional nerve blocks will be discussed. Dental instrumentation and care will be covered in a section of the lab. 

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will learn fundamental anatomy, nomenclature, and dental charting

2. Participants will learn intraoral radiographic positioning.

3. Participants will learn and understand periodontal pathophysiology and the dental prophylaxis

4. Participants will learn regional dental analgesia

5. Participants will recognize common dental and oral pathology. 

6. Participants will learn dental instrumentation and instrument care

Course Curriculum (Lecture/Lab Limited to 24 Participants) - 12 Hours CE

Lecture Day 1: 8 hours

I. Dental Anatomy, nomenclature, charting

II. Periodontal Disease, Periodontal Cleaning, Home Care products

III. Common dental and oral pathology and malocclusions

IV. Regional Nerve Blocks, Anesthesia, and Analgesia

V. Intraoral radiographic positioning and basic understanding of the images obtained

Lab: 4 hours

I. Intraoral Radiographic Positioning In The Dog And Cat

II. Dental Prophylaxis And Charting

III. Instrumentation And Instrument Care

IV. Regional Nerve Blocks
